Last night for dinner my sister and I wanted reeeally good sushi while my mom wanted classic tempura and chicken teriyaki, and that's how we ended up at En Sushi. I am hesitant about sushi restaurant that also serves hot entrees, having been accustomed to the minimalist fish-forward menus common at many high-end sushi places. But En Sushi hit the mark in flavor, quality, presentation, service, speed, and atmosphere. The unpretentious dim lighting and roomy leather booths were reminiscent of the restaurants of my youth (Chin Chin, CPK, PF Chang's) and a nice break from the sterile minimalist seating at many modern sushi establishments. It was just so cozy and comfortable. We ordered: Mixed tempura - came piping hot and included a large shitake mushroom cap which was unusual and delicious Spicy tuna on crispy rice - simple and yummy, tuna had great flavor James Bond roll with spicy albacore and shrimp tempura-- another fresh and tasty roll presented beautifully. we added crispy onion on top Baked scallop roll - not my thing, but my sister loved it Chicken teriyaki entrée -- Generous portion of tender juicy thigh meat, big golden crispy potatoes, the tastiest miso soup ever according to my mom, and a healthy portion of salad with a light sesame ginger dressing-- plus rice and steamed broccoli. Easily enough for 2 full dinners. Green tea -- Clearly a high-quality matcha with a delicious toasty flavor, served in a very cute cup Hot filtered sake -- can't go wrong The food came out so quickly and we were well-attended to, and the $106 total felt appropriate for the amount of food ordered. One of the bussing staff took care taking a few photos of us on the way out which was very sweet. It was just the perfect spot for a Sunday night dinner with mom and sis. Can't wait to go back again and again and again!
I have been going to En Sushi for years and not quite sure why I have never reviewed it. The food is consistantly fresh and well prepared, they have a full bar, and a very attentive staff that makes an effort to remember customers. Most importantly, they have the best sushi happy hour in town!! I no longer live on the Westside and happily drive across town to enjoy the food and drink!
I'm rarely motivated to leave a review especially while still in the restaurant eating but the food is excellent and the customer service is impeccable. It's friendly, attentive and the staff works cooperatively so no one ever says "let me go get someone". Everyone chips in and helps. It's really remarkable. The place is packed. Every table and the food is still coming out of the kitchen at an amazing pace. Bravo!!
Went for happy hour and it was great! Nice big yummy rolls and sushi and sashimi! You can't go wrong here.
Wonderful food, and the service is great. We were warmly greeted. Our waitress was so attentive and remembered some of us from previous visits. The food is delicious, and beautifully presented. I had crispy Salmon Skin handroll, Vegetable Tempura and Salmon Collar. They also made me a lovely Hendrick's martini, with muddled cucumbers, at my request. Friends raved about their sushi. This is a beautiful gem of a restaurant. Street parking is free on Sundays!
My family was visiting me last week and I told them about this place right down the street from me. I remember seeing the sign of late night happy hour in the window so I suggested we go. Late night happy hour starts I believe at 9pm. I believe they have regular happy hour 3pm-7pm which is awesome. The host got us seated at a booth and we were greeted quickly by our very nice server. We ordered some drinks and the bartender came over to us ask our preference of liquor for the cocktails. We got to talking to him and he's this really awesome dude named David. We ordered a variety of food from the happy hour menu and everything was super tasty. The restaurant itself has cool darker decor inside. The bar area seems like a nice spot and they have a tv there. We had such a great experience we went back the next night. I highly recommend checking this place out!!
We are visiting from Nor Cal, our son lives local and took us here. This please is absolutely a fun place to go esp at night. Happy Hour is so fun. The nigiri is so good and buttery. Gyoza is fresh and too good. Great service, David is the best.
I wanted to share a quick review about EN Sushi. This place is fantastic! The ambiance is great, creating a wonderful dining experience. I must mention Sarutta's amazing service; she truly made our visit memorable. And of course, the sushi was of excellent quality. Highly recommend EN Sushi!
Great Sushi, great happy hour, $1.99 Saki, A+ I recommend the fried spicy tuna. Could be my new place.
En Sushi is located on Santa Monica Blvd just west of the 405 and Sepulveda. The ambience is nice with darker lighting and comfy booths also with a large sushi bar all suitable for dates, special occasions. I visited at the late Happy Hour from 9-11(double check). The sushi yellowtail(Saba), rolls and tempura was excellent and above average for the tough sushi category. Prices were lower for above average value. NOTE: My handroll was so yummy I ordered another. Service could use some improvement but was decent. Highly recommended.
